I caught the last part where Nick Fury tells Steve that he's been asleep for 70 years. That little half-shrug/sigh and then the shot of his face when he looks around at Time Square...he just realized everyone he knows is dead and gone. No wonder he's been jumping out of planes without a parachute since then.

That scene is so terrible--like, Fury asks him "You gonna be okay?" when he's just told him that the world he knew is gone! He hasn't even had a couple minutes, he's just supposed to be okay?? WTF

That movie really is pure tragedy. Like, under all the comics shenanigans, it's pure Greek tragedy.

And some are expecting him to be fine during the time span of the MCU, where there wasn't too much turn around between having realizing everyone was going (Peggy) and gone to learning your BFF who died is actually alive (and you didn't search for him) and is a brainwashed assassin working for an evil organization you thought you destroyed a long time ago. That's not discounting all the WTFery of CW. He's suicidal and depressed, and some think that he was OTT over Bucky. A remnant of his time, of what he used to be is alive -- of course, he's going to hold onto with all his might and never let go.
