Spiderman Homecoming

I really really like it. It's the best Spiderman movie since Spiderman 2, and probably part of the reason why is that it features the best villain we've seen in the MCU (I just realized that Michael Keaton was the lead in Birdman *wink wink*). The main reasons why is that Tom Holland is the best Spiderman/Peter Parker like ever, and the story/movie lets him be the kid that he really is. It also reminds me of Ant-Man because it's really a small movie, masquerading as a blockbuster -- the story and conflict is localized, the concerns (especially Peter's) are not about the fate of the world/universe but are serious all the same.
I wasn't that spoiled (like I knew that Zendaya was going to be MJ) but I didn't know that the Vulture would end up as Liz Allen's dad. That was a great twist, which lead to an amazing confrontation between two antagonists without their masks on. That ending with Mae was ah-mah-zing.
Also, yay, Pepper's back!

It's at the very end of the movie and Cap starts talking about having patience and how sometimes, waiting and waiting for something for a long time may not always be rewarded with something they want/need/expect. He then breaks off, looks to the side and asks how many more of these are they gonna do.
p.s. Pepper's appearance is basically a cameo at the end of the movie but a good one. And it just proves to you that whenever Pepper's around, everything will be alright and no shit like Ultron or the Sokovia accords can happen. Do you really want me to spoil you because I will spoil you af

Date: 2017-07-08 06:07 pm (UTC)RDJ/IM is still their most marketable star and hero, I guess. It's not as loaded with RDJ as Iron Man 4: Avengers Disassembled, Featuring Special Guest Star, Captain America but Peter's story (and Vulture's too) is so much linked to what happened in the MCU (specifically Avengers & Civil War). Jon Favreau as Happy gets a lot of face time as the Tony stand-in because the whole movie is Peter wanting to be an Avenger because being a friendly neighborhood Spiderman is not enough for him.
What else? If you're watching for Zendaya, prepare to be disappointed since she's like 5 minutes in the whole movie. It's a set-up for the next one where she'll probably have more screentime as Michelle "my friends call me MJ" Jones.
A critic commented that if there was a villain that evokes the political climate in the US now, it's Tooms because this is the guy who voted for Trump, and I kinda agree a little. Just ask me, I'm still high from the first watch, and I'm sure I'll watch again.
p.s. Jacob Batalon who plays Peter's bff Ned is Filipino, yay!
